Jennifer and Mark chose Maui as their destination wedding location instead of a wedding at home near Sacramento, California. The couple decided on private estate Honua Kai Lani to host a ceremony and reception for their 60 guests.
There were so many details that dressed up the setting and made it unique to their wedding, here are just a few: The dropped chandeliers, silk linens and pastel flower arrangements filling the dining tent, the fresh sushi station during cocktail hour, the locally made calligraphy signs and menus, a funky and fun photo booth, tons of fresh pastel flowers and petals everywhere, and even a watercolor artist that sketched and painted the ceremony – as it happened.
The bride and groom got ready at the estate, and guests were shuttled in from a nearby restaurant that would later host the after-party. A Mai Tai greeting kicked off the celebration, and about a half an hour later guests were seated for the ceremony. Jennifer was escorted up the aisle by Mark’s daughter, and the couple chose to have all the kids serve as their wedding party and share the spotlight – even the sand ceremony involved everyone and took on a meaning of family.
After saying “I Do,” the B&G, wedding party and all the guests danced their way from the ceremony to the reception area for cocktail hour. While the bride and groom took their group photos, guests entertained themselves with cocktails, a stunning sushi bar by Kojima’s Sushi & Japanese cuisine, passed appetizers, and posing with fun props in the photo booth from Strike A Pose Maui.
Afterwards, everyone sat for dinner, where Aloha Events Catering served a plated tomato salad with Hawaiian goat cheese, olive oil, balsamic, and fresh basil. Next was an entree featuring grilled petite filet mignon and sesame crusted fresh fish. Dessert was a decadent chocolate salted caramel wedding cake with a simple buttercream frosting by Maui Sweet Cakes.
Throughout the night, guests had fun with the photo booth, and the props, which made cameos during the toast and on the dance floor. What better than to be toasted by a viking?!
Congratulations Jennifer and Mark!
